Next steps

  • 26 November 2015
The Environment Committee reviewed submissions made to the proposal: 26 November Committee meeting.
  • April 2016
Report scheduled to go to the Environment Committee containing options for low cost accommodation throughout the Wellington region, as well as the potential for apps and websites to facilitate use of private land for tents and vehicles.

Wellington is a popular destination for campers, particularly those in motor homes and campervans, given the easy access to Cook Strait ferries, range of visitor attractions and numerous events.

We currently have enough camp sites for self-contained motor homes and campervans, but there’s increasing demand for camping sites suitable for non-self-contained vehicles or tents.
