Peace calendar

As a Peace City, Wellington hosts many peace activities and celebrations. The Council supports a number of these events.

The Council is focussing on supporting a number of peace events. These are

  • International Holocaust Remembrance Day - January
  • Hiroshima Day - August
  • Peace Day - September

There are many other events and cultural celebrations held by members of Wellington’s community that contribute to peace, cultural understanding and nuclear disarmament. The Council also supports many multicultural, arts and sporting events.

We also work with Central Government agencies to welcome new migrants.
