Animal control – lost and impounded dogs

  • Dogs will be released via their drop-box system – a double access box from inside and outside the pound with a door at each end. This means that a dog can be passed from the pound to the owner with minimal contact.

  • We will continue to process applications submitted electronically through our online application service Simpli.
  • All new hardcopy applications received from Monday 4 May will be scanned and digitised to be worked on and sent to customers electronically.
  • Some delays are likely.
  • We will carry out on-site inspections for building consents. We will be contacting all customers who made bookings before the Alert Level 4 lockdown to confirm new inspection dates.

  • Only official receptacles (green/clear recycling bags, recycling wheelie bins and glass crates) will be collected.

Libraries

Status: Most library branches will be open under Alert Level 2.

  • Open with reduced hours: Arapaki (Manners Street), Brooklyn, Cummings Park (Ngaio), Karori, Khandallah, Kilbirnie, Miramar, Newtown, Tawa, Waitohi (Johnsonville), Wadestown.
  • He Matapihi and Island Bay will reopen from Tuesday 2 June. Island Bay will follow reduced hours.

  • keep your visit under 30 minutes
  • visit on your own or in a small group
  • keep 2 metres away from others
  • follow any guidance from our staff or signs.

Library customers can also continue to access a huge range of online resources at wcl.govt.nz/elibrary. This includes ebooks, newspapers, movies, and online courses.

  • Open: Southern Landfill and the bulk Recycling Centre site. Trade Me is operational again online with courier delivery only.

  • Expect delays – we recommend coming on your allocated recycling day to allow for better traffic management, and avoiding the weekend.
