What happened to this consultation?

We recently asked for your thoughts and suggestions on the proposed upgrade at Carrara Park in Newtown.

Feedback was gathered through an online survey (open from Tuesday 16 July to Monday 5 August), and at a community drop-in session at Newtown Market (St Anne’s Hall) on Saturday 27 July.

We have reviewed all of the feedback received in partnership with Newtown Residents’ Association, and are now developing a concept design for Carrara Park.

The concept design will be presented to the public for feedback in the near future. Further details will be available soon.

Proposed changes

The upgrade will focus on relocating the play area and upgrading the play equipment.

We need to move the play area away from the existing location because the equipment is being damaged by the roots of the Norfolk Island pine tree.

We’ll also be installing new play equipment which meets current regulations and uses sustainable materials.

As part of the upgrade, we’ll look at creating a new picnic/barbecue area.

The installation of public toilets and redevelopment of the asphalt area aren't being considered as part of this upgrade.
