We are working with NZTA to review, plan and deliver a practical and achievable programme for Wellington. The Northern corridor runs from Ngauranga to the central city along Hutt Road. Wellington City Council, in partnership with the Government under the Urban Cycleways Programme, plans to improve cycling facilities in the northern corridor at a cost of $9 million.
The eastern suburbs are some of the flattest parts of Wellington. With some improvements they could be ideal places for cycling.
Southern area routes will connect the southern suburbs with local centres, schools and the central city. The planned route runs from Shorland Park in Island Bay to Waitangi Park in the city through the southern suburbs.
