The function for the athletes was held at the ASB Sports Centre, and attendees were supported by the Mayor Celia Wade-Brown, Deputy Mayor Justin Lester, Councillor Paul Eagle, sport association leaders, coaches, and staff from High Performance Sport NZ, Sport NZ, Wellington City Council and Sport Wellington.
Aimed at assisting athletic development, the programme is collaboration between Wellington City Council, Sport Wellington and High Performance Sport NZ. The programme provides support in key areas of their performance programmes. In 2014, this has helped athletes involved in football, hockey, kayaking, netball, rugby, swimming, and yachting.
