Cycling Drop-in Sessions

13 May 2014

We’re holding drop-in sessions over the next week as we develop cycling blueprints for several Wellington suburbs.

We’re in the early stages of looking at what could be done to make Miramar, Kilbirnie and Lyall Bay more appealing places to cycle. With the Tawa Valley Pathway (Ara Tawa) completed, we’re now developing a blueprint for other cycling improvements in Tawa.

We’re investing more to make cycling in Wellington safer and easier. These plans will help guide what happens over the next 10–20 years. Drop in and share your thoughts on what you would most like to see improved:

  • Saturday 17 May, 12 noon–4pm, Rongotai College, 170 Coutts Street
  • Tuesday 20 May, 5.30–8.30pm, Miramar Central School, 38 Park Road
  • Sunday 25 May, 1–4pm, Tawa Community Centre, 5 Cambridge Street.

Consultation on two cycle lane options along The Parade in Island Bay closed last week. Most of the 177 submissions (81 percent) support new cycle lanes adjacent to the footpath. Our Transport and Urban Development Committee is expected to make a decision next week.
