In order to undertake this huge programme of work, the pool will close from 9pm, Thursday 17 April, and will reopen in February 2015.

The eagerly-awaited redevelopment is in response to customer feedback and is also driven by continued growth in the northern suburbs that has put pressure on community facilities.

The work includes:

  • a new pool for Learn to Swim and other aquatic programmes
  • a new children’s play pool
  • new changing rooms
  • renewal of the roof
  • maintenance work to the existing building.

During the closure period, the following classes will move to Tawa Pool:

  • Learn to Swim
  • Aqua Fit classes
  • Ezy Movers
  • Shallow Water

Deep water classes will be available at Karori Pool.

Lane swimming will be available at all other Wellington City Council pools.

Aqua jogging will be available at Karori Pool, Freyberg Pool and Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre.

Over the next eight months leading up to re-opening in February 2015, we’ll continue to update our regular pool users, neighbours and the local community on the progress of the development.

If you’d like to be kept informed, you can receive our regular email updates by emailing Keith Spry Pool Facility Manager Matt Kilgour and ask to be put on the email update list: matt.kilgour@wcc.govt.nz
