11 March 2014

Over the past few weeks, thousands of Wellingtonians and visitors to Wellington have enjoyed an extraordinary variety of events as part of the New Zealand Festival, which has taken place every second year since 1986.

Wellington City Council is proud to be a core partner of the festival, which is a big event on New Zealand’s cultural landscape and a leading multi-arts festival in Australasia. It attracts the world’s top international artists and nurtures and presents work from some of the best artists and producers in New Zealand.

With more than 300 events, both free and ticketed, featuring 1,220 artists and writers from 18 different countries, the festival is a key part of our vision of being the Events Capital of New Zealand.

In 2012, the New Zealand Festival poured $56 million into the Wellington economy, and with five days to go, the 2014 Festival is on track for similar success.
