Karori Water Outage
5 February 2014
A section of water main in Karori that burst yesterday has burst again this afternoon – and Wellington City Council is apologising to residents in the area for the inconvenience caused.
It is expected that water supply will be restored to affected parts of the suburb by about 7pm today.
The section of main that has burst in Croydon Street is cement piping that dates from the 1950s – and is programmed for replacement in the next two years.
The City Council’s Chief Asset Officer, Anthony Wilson, is apologising for the disruptions. He says he will instruct staff from the City Council and Capacity Water Services, after a more substantial repair to the pipe has been made this afternoon, to investigate possible causes of the bursts and whether the replacement work can be brought forward.
Streets affected by the outage today are, like yesterday, Croydon Street, Donald Street and Donald Cres, Allington Road. Pine Tce, Grenfell Drive, Tiro Street, Wendouree Way, Duthie Street, Messines Road, Versailles Road and Herman Street.
