Parking Tips for Christmas Shoppers

3 December 2013

Heading in to town to do your Christmas shopping? There’s plenty of parking in the city, with practical and cost-effective options for parking. Here’s what you need to know.

Electronic signs around the city tell you how many spaces are available in car park buildings.

Depending on how close to the central city you park, hourly rates start as low as $1.50 an hour and weekend parking is free; just remember to check the signs for time limits.

If you’re planning to shop for more than two hours use a car park building - or try Clifton Terrace on The Terrace. You can walk through the James Cook Hotel and take the lift down to Lambton Quay in minutes.

There are plenty of ways to pay for parking including cash, coupon, credit card, Snapper, TXT-a-Park and phone2park.
