Spotted Any Lizards Lately?
26 February 2013
We’re doing a survey to help get an accurate picture of Wellington’s lizard population, and we want your help.

We know there’s a wide range of lizard species living in and around the city – but not as many as there used to be. So to better protect the ones that are left, we need more information. If you’ve seen a lizard, phone 027 341 7373 or email sabine@ecogecko.co.nz
Helpful observations would include:
- details about the location
- a photo or description of the lizard (such as its colour, size and species)
- the date and time you saw it.
The survey, similar to one on kākā carried out by Massey University student Kerry Charles last year, is part of Our Living City, a broad-based Council-led initiative that aims to make Wellington an even better place to live. Our harbour and hills and native flora and fauna help give the city its unique character – something we want to protect and enhance.
