E Nga iwi e Nga mana e Nga Reo
Tēnā koutou Tēnā koutou Tēnā koutou katoa!
To everybody who is with us today, from New Zealand, overseas and to all those watching around the globe, a very special welcome to you all.
Today the world's eyes are on Wellington, and what a beautiful day to show off our stunning Capital city!
This is the day we've all been waiting for, when finally we set off with Bilbo Baggins and all the Hobbits, Elves, Dwarves and Wizards for a most Unexpected Journey.
Let's thank our truly magical Wellingtonian Sir Peter Jackson and everyone who has worked on The Hobbit.
Let's thank the team at Warner Brothers and Prime Minister John Key for the partnership that helped bring this magnificent occasion to Wellington.
And let's thank all Wellingtonians: Ratepayers, our Council staff, businesses and fans who have transformed the Coolest Little Capital in the World into the Middle of Middle-earth.
This is a day to celebrate. To celebrate the local and global magic of our film industry; to celebrate telling the Wellington story of talent and technology to the world; and to celebrate Wellington as the Middle of Middle-earth!
It's now my pleasure to introduce John Key, the Prime Minister of New Zealand.
