The Council is obliged by law to make property and rating information freely available to the public. However to protect ratepayers’ privacy, information about ownership, occupancy and accounts are not available.

The information the Council holds about ratepayers is required for its statutory purposes. These purposes include, but are not limited to:

• recording information required for setting and assessing rates
• facilitating communication between ratepayers and the Council
• providing reasonable public access to information relating to calculations of liability for rates
