Wellington offers a New Zealand first - paying for your parking by credit card without having to pre-register.
The Council's new silver pay-and-display machines now accept credit cards, as well as cash and TXT-a-Park.
There is a 50c transaction charge for using your credit card to purchase parking. This is the same for one or two hours parking. For example, one hour of parking at $4 per hour would cost $4.50. Two hours of parking at $4 per hour would cost $8.50.
The transaction will appear on your credit card statement as 'WCC Parking Services.'
If you cannot complete a transaction because of a network problem the message 'Credit card payment unavailable, use coins' will appear.
For any other problem using credit cards to pay for your parking, call Wellington City Council.
The pay-and-display machine will print a pay-and-display receipt, which has enough information to act as a tax invoice.
