The Creative Communities NZ Wellington Local Funding Scheme is a partnership between Wellington City Council and Creative New Zealand. Every year Creative New Zealand provides money to councils to support local arts activities. Any individual, group or organisation can apply.

Value

$100,000 per annum. Grants are awarded twice a year.

Purpose

These grants are intended to increase participation in the arts and to increase the range and diversity of arts available to our community. Various types of projects are considered for these grants, such as workshops, performances, short-term arts events, artist-in-residence schemes and arts-related promotional activities.

Criteria

Projects seeking funding from this scheme should meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • increase participation in the arts
  • increase the range and diversity of the arts available to communities
  • enhance and strengthen the local arts sector.

To be eligible for funding, projects must take place within the Wellington City ratepaying area. Projects that are already receiving Creative New Zealand funding are not normally eligible.
