Betty Campbell Accommodation Assistance Grants are for not-for-profit community groups seeking to promote social well-being for Wellington residents in Wellington City.
Value
Grants are allocated twice a year, subject to available funds. The maximum subsidy is limited to 30% of rental, up to $10,000.
Purpose
To provide contestable cash grants for rental subsidy for not-for-profit groups seeking to promote social well-being for Wellington residents.
Criteria
The Council seeks to work with community groups that:
- provide direct services to promote social well-being for Wellington residents (Social well-being means living in a supportive, ongoing community and having access to shelter, education, food and income.)
- contribute to building community capability and/or capacity for promoting social well-being for Wellington residents by providing coordination and support for other groups. Supporting other groups might entail providing training opportunities, support services, or guidance to other groups.
- are located within Wellington city and surrounding suburbs and whose services are accessible to all Wellingtonians.
Accommodation assistance grants:
- will generally be allocated for periods of three years at a time, but may be made for shorter periods where this is more appropriate
- may be made for reduced amounts in subsequent years as community groups gain independence from the Fund
- will be made mindful of other policies such as having wheelchair access
- may be made to community groups submitting joint proposals, or proposals where a sharing of resources or space is indicated
- will only be made to groups, or clusters of groups, requiring accommodation for 30 or more hours per week.
