Every year Wellington city hosts a wide range of events, including concerts, sporting matches, live theatre and dance, exhibitions and festivals. The Council supports many of these events through grants, event coordination, and promotional activities.

Summer City

Summer City.

Summer City is Wellington's three-month festival of outdoor activities. Events include music festivals, extreme sports, cultural celebrations and children's entertainment.

New Zealand International Arts Festival

26 February - 21 March, various locations

NZ International Arts Festival logo.

The 2010 International Arts Festival brings Wellington some the world's finest dance, theatre, film, music, literature and visual arts.

Armageddon Expo

The Armageddon expo returns to Wellington and provides opportunities to meet movie stars, gaming, comics, music, rides and a variety of contests and giveaways.

A Day in Pompeii

Until 25 April, Te Papa

Learn about life in ancient Pompeii before Mt Vesuvius erupted and destroyed the bustling city. This exhibition features more than 250 priceless artefacts and a 3-D theatre simulating the eruption of Mt Vesuvius.
