Wellington aims to be a fully inclusive and accessible city. The Council has projects and initiatives designed to make the city user-friendly for everyone.
Disability Access
There are a number of carparks and public toilets with disability access in central Wellington. The Council has produced a map of their locations, available from:
- Council Service Centres
- Citizens' Advice Bureaux
- community centres
- disability service providers

Community Advisor, Disability
The Council has a dedicated Community Advisor who works closely with disability groups and reports back to Council on their behalf. The advisor's job is to:
- raise awareness of disability issues
- advise the Council on accessibility issues, trends and funding priorities
- offer support and information to community organisations and people affected by disability issues
Sign Language Service
The Council offers a sign language interpreting service to improve communication between the deaf community and the Council.
Interpreters are qualified New Zealand sign language professionals. The service is also available for other languages.
