Non-profit groups and community organisations make a vital contribution to the social, cultural and economic well-being of the capital.
Wellington City Council provides programmes and facilities to support these groups in their important work.
The Council is a major funder of community organisations and projects. Funding covers salaries for community organisation employees, festivals, arts and cultural projects, community projects, sports and city safety projects. Council grants amount to several million dollars.
The Funding Information Service is a comprehensive online database that helps community groups and individuals find out about how to apply for community funding. The service is available – free of charge – at city libraries, Citizen’s Advice Bureaux and some community centres. Contact your local centre to arrange a time to visit.
The Council helps non-profit and community groups benefit from internet technologies.

WCN currently hosts a range of groups that work in arts, civic advocacy, environment, health, neighbourhoods, religion, schools, sport, professional associations, clubs and societies.
