Toi Pōneke Arts Centre is a creative space to meet, work, rehearse and exhibit. Established by Wellington City Council, the centre is located in Abel Smith Street in the heart of the city.

Toi Pōneke nurtures early-career arts practitioners, creative businesses and arts organisations in a collaborative and supportive environment. In over 30 studios, graphic artists, animators, writers, photographers, painters, theatre technicians and sculptors focus on their craft.

The Toi Pōneke Gallery hosts about 15 exhibitions throughout the year, selected by the gallery's visual arts panel. Admission to the gallery is free.

Arts Organisations

Toi Pōneke houses 11 arts organisations. The residents, exhibitors and arts practitioners, whether teachers or students, benefit from having a variety of arts organisations in the same location.
