The Learn to Swim programme is available at:
Freyberg Pool and Fitness Centre (adults only)
Karori Pool
Keith Spry Pool
Tawa Pool
Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre
Learn to Swim classes operate all year round, matching the primary school terms. A wide variety of intensive courses are available in the school holidays.

Learn to Swim programme
The Learn to Swim programme provides for every level, age and ability.
Adaptive
For people with impairments |
One-on-one lessons adapted for people with impairments (for any age).
We can also help you find out about funding for swimming lessons.

Waterbabies
6 - 36 months |
Encourages enjoyment and confidence in the water while learning floating and kicking skills and progressing to going under water.
Caregivers need to be in the water and take part.

Preschool
3 - 5 years |
Develops and extends swimming and water safety skills while building self-esteem, confidence and motor skills.

| School children |
Develops and extends swimming and water safety skills - caters for all levels from the nervous beginner to those who can swim lengths.

| Adults |
Caters for all levels - from basic survival swimming skills through to improving stroke and breathing techniques

Wellington City Council runs the Learn to Swim programme in partnership with Water Safety New Zealand. The programme supports the National Swim for Life campaign.
Aquatic courses
- Diving for preschoolers
- For school children - kayaking, springboard diving, sportfit classes and Aquatic Club
- Kayaking for adults
Aquatic Club includes a variety of water-based activities for school children such as snorkelling, kayaking, surf sense and springboard diving.
Discounts
When you book and pay online, you will receive a 5% discount on each booking. Discounts of 20% are available for Leisure Card holders if you book online or over the phone and will be automatically deducted from the registration fee.
