I petition Wellington City Council to pass a bylaw banning the sale of beer and RTD's in glass bottles from off-licences in the city of Wellington. I also submit that the Council uses whatever means at its disposal through its regulation of liquor licensing to affect the same ban. |
| Background information: |
I am appalled by the amount of broken glass strewn around the city. It is a serious hazard that could be easily remedied through a bylaw as outlined above. Making the bylaw apply to off-licences would have the most use, while still allowing people in bars to use glass bottles. Broken glass is a problem even in parks, playgrounds and out-of-the-way places in bush areas of the city, beaches, everywhere. Please do something. Regards Curtis Nixon.
