Background information
All councils in the Wellington region have been working together to develop a new draft Waste Management and Minimisation Plan (WMMP) - with the aim to reduce the amount of waste produced, to better reuse resources, and to recycle more.
The draft plan outlines the actions each council will take around waste management, and sets a primary waste reduction target for the region – to reduce the total quantity of waste sent to landfills by a third over the next 10 years.
